Character Permissions
Thank you for your interest in my characters! I
have a few important terms and conditions that will be listed here. Covering
such things as permission, how I limit my characters' depiction in
advertising, and what sort of themes are apropriate for my characters. I
tried my best to be specific, but this information below is by no
means definitive, since each piece of art and situation is unique. This page may
be revised without advance notice. Please check back for any updates.
Character Use Terms
I enjoy commissioning artists and recieving art! Here are the permissions
I openly grant for my characters if someone decides to surprise me or if I
give artistic freedom for a project!!
- All characters pretty generally fall under "Safe For Work"
- Since this can be subjective, to me think of it like something
you would show in a public setting. Would the type of content shown
or the subject matter involved be something you would see on a magazine cover at the checkout stand
at a grocery store, would it be apropriate to show to the person
checking you out or a person in line behind you? (not necessarily
that you would show your art in that situation but the
content or
subject matter involved could be, that's the type of SFW I am talking
about here.)
- Positive themes are encouraged.
- No sexual or kink-related theming is allowed for my characters!
- Note: This is something I require unambiguous
and explicit consent for so this is plainly not condusive
to the purpose of this permission list. And certainly not suitable
for a surprise, gift art, open-ended trade, or artistic freedom.
- Pride, lgbtqia+ and gender identity themes are ok. 🌈
- Rapid flashing, bright colors, eye strain, or content that may require a warning to accomodate
viewers with Epilepsy is ok. (I prefer when the art is posted to include
that type of content warning when sharing, though. To be considerate!!)
- Moderate gore ok (i.e. fake gore, zombie, halloween-type themes, candy gore,
etc)! Please no extreme gore or body horror for my characters.
- Cartoon violence is ok. Stuff like Tom & Jerry, Wiley Coyote,
or Bugs Bunny skits with mallets, sight gags, anvils, silly
things of that nature.
Feel free to
explore, I love seeing an artist's own take on any of my characters! If
you are not sure about anything I've written, or if you have a specific idea
you think is fun, contact me with your idea and we can talk! I tend to give
permission if it is close to the content of things mentioned above but still
wish to reserve my rights for my characters!
- If some day I recind my permission with an individual to display my
character(s), please be respectful. I will always do my best to be respectful about it in
return.
- Please do not breach my privacy by "showing off" that I asked you,
or a 3rd party, not to do something with my characters. Thats pretty
unfair to anyone -- since it is between us.
Advertising Permissions
Its pretty important to address
permission to use my characters or their likenesses in cases of advertising!
By that I mean an individual artist using the art they made of my
character(s) to advertise for more client work using that character
depiction that they made as an example, to show off their printing or other
creative services, or other small business fandom goodies that they make!
The furry fandom is full of visuals and its backbone is creative individuals and
small businesses, so showing examples is SUCH an important thing!
I tend to be very supportive of artists who would like to use the
artwork they did for me as an example to show others what they can do! Its
hard enough to be an artist these days, having examples to obtain future
commission work from other paying clients is really essential! So I want to make it easy and
possible!
However I do have some conditions:
- If you make art for me and insist on including my characters as an
example in future commission advertisement, do not embarrass me. I
also politely but firmly request if your work advertisement you plan to
include my characters in represents something outside the scope of "safe
for work" that you please do not include me as an example in that advertisement.
- This aligns with what I mentioned above about kink or sexual
theming as something I require unambiguous and explicit consent
for. It is "no" when it comes to advertising art
featuring my characters alongside nsfw, since I wish to maintain my
characters as intended for a public-setting audience.
- I want you to be proud of the work you have created for me, especially
if you like it enough to use it as an example to obtain future
commission work from paying clients! But be mindful because I
ALSO do not want my characters be associated with ANY "not safe for work" concepts or
sexual theming or associations beyond. That kind of thing does not
represent me. :(
- If your advertisement itself is generally safe for work, this
unfortunately may still apply if the meaning behind the artwork or
advertisement has gained a nsfw connotation.
Thank you for understanding!
Please know other artists and their behaivor do not represent me
or my characters. Typically this is a total given
in most interactions, but it is worth being clear and outlining that detail
plainly on my character permissions page.
While I do commission many pieces of art of my characters, and I
have been doing so for many many years, choosing an artist
and commissioning them to obtain art is not the only way I have recieved art. I also enjoy playing art games
in public settings which means interactions with strangers. Such as
Art Fight, and
commonly doing trades, trade games, and recieving gift art. So a page like
this is a good way to easily convey to many people I may not ever talk to 1
on 1 beforehand about what permission they have with my characters! And my art
for others also does
not make me a representitive to those people or characters which I have drawn
on
commission, as trade recipients, or to strangers
either.
